pp108 : Creating a Service Container

Creating a Service Container

This topic describes the procedure to create a Service Container.

Before you begin this task:
You must have the role of systemAdmin or organizationalAdmin to create a Service Container in an organization.

You can create a Service Container along with a new Service Group, or attach a Service Container to an existing Service Group.

  1. On CUSP > My Applications, click (System Resource Manager) The System Resource Manager window appears and lists the available Service Containers in the Service Containers App Palette.
Note: Alternatively, you can click to view the existing Service Containers.
  2. Do one of the following

    To create a Service Group

To Add a Service Container to an Existing Service Group

1.Click (Create Service Groups) on the toolbar. The New Service Group Wizard is displayed.
2.Select an application connector from the Application Connectors list, and click Next.

    3. Specify the name, routing algorithm, and description for the Service Group in the appropriate fields.
    4. Select the appropriate Web service interface, based on the application connector you have selected. The namespace for the selected Web service interface automatically appears in the Namespace field.
    5. Click Next. The Provide Service Container Details page appears.

    1. Select a Service Group and right-click it.
2.Select New Service option. The New Service Container wizard appears.
    3. Select an application connector from the Application Connectors list, and click Next. The Provide Service Container Details page appears.

    Note:
A Service Container that is created at system level can process requests from other organizations (if the service container does not exist in those organizations). Hence, it is not required to replicate the same Service Containers for different organizations.

    Restriction:
When you add a WS-AppServer Service Container to an existing WS-AppServer Service Group, ensure that it points to the same database that the default Service Container points to. If Service Containers point to different databases, they are likely to cause problems with Web service generation.

  3. Specify the required Service Container details and click Next. For more information on the Service Container details, refer to Service Container Configuration Interface. The Provide Details for the <selected application connector> page appears. For example, if you have selected WS-Appserver connector, the Provide Details for the Ws-Appserver Connector page appears.
  4. Specify the required details for the application connector you have selected and click Next. For more information on the application connector details, refer to Configuration Parameters for Application Connectors. The Provide Connection Point Details page appears.
  5. Specify the required connection point details and click Finish. For more information on the connection point details, refer to Connection Point Configuration Interface.
    The Service Container is created.

Note: It is recommended to create similar type of Service Containers under a Service Group. For example, Service Container A and Service Container B can be considered as similar, if they configure the same application connector.
